About the Author
Ingo F. Walther (1940–2007) was born in Berlin and studied medieval studies, literature, and art history in Frankfurt am Main and Munich. He published numerous books on the art of the Middle Ages and of the 19th and 20th centuries. Great book for beginners

I am a newbie when it comes to understanding art. Contemporary art has become a favorite of mine and I wanted a good 'overall' book. This one delivers. It's 800+ pages covers topics such as contemporary art periods, info on hundreds of painters, sculptors and photographers and a plethora of artwork photos. A great book for those who, like me, who want a good starting place on the topic. I highly recommend this one!!
