'The strength of the book is the positive example of the main character, Lysander. He confronts his weaknesses, tempations and prejudices and triumphs through integrity and courage ... I have to agree with my son's verdict that this is a gripping page turner. The scary bits are tense and well spaced throug the novel' TES
About the Author
Michael Ford read English and Classics at Oxford University, before a stint teaching English in Greece. He worked in children's nonfiction publishing for several years before becoming an editor of adult fiction in West London. Spartan is his first children's novel.

Fire of ares

AMAZING!!!!!!! This book touched my heart. It is just amazing. Don't get the sample. Buy the book. It is worth it. I had to something for summer reading. I chose hatchet, which by the way is amazing too, and Fire of Ares. I loved it so much. I would recommend this book for people who are at least 11. There is some words that are kind of hard to understand. And there is violence. I'm not giving any details, because I want it to be a surprise!!! Bye! :)

We were reading this book in history class and our teacher would always leave us hanging at one of the intense moment, and it irritated me, and when we finished, I was like O.M.G. this book was sooooo awesome. It truly was a terrific book. :))))
